Light-Switch and Outlet covers are in every room of your home and are often overlooked when decorating a room, so chances are your switch plates are the standard white covers that were put in when your home/apartment was built. If that’s the case in your situation then you are in the right place, as I am going to show you a quick and easy way to decorate your switch plate covers so that they add character and interest to your walls. I must add that this is all thanks to Mod Podge, if you saw my previous tutorial Mod Podge Picture Frame then you already know how much I love it and if you haven’t seen it should check it out, as it’s another quick & easy Mod Podge project that is worth trying.
If you are new to Mod Podge or just interested in learning more about this amazing product and all of the things that it can do, I encourage you to visit Plaid Online. Plaid is the manufacturer of Mod Podge and several other do-it-yourself products!
Ok, now that I’ve expressed my love for Mod Podge I’m going to show you a step by step tutorial on how to decorate your light-switch and outlet covers using Mod Podge and Scrapbook paper.
Here is What you will need:
Step 1: Turn the scrapbook paper face down, lay the switch plate cover on top of the scrapbook paper and trace around the outside and inside edges.
Step 2: Cut 1/2″ outside of the outer traced line, this is to account for the sides of the switch plate. Don’t cut out the center yet, as we will do that a little later. Cut a diagonal slit at each outside corner to make it easier to fold
Step 3: Apply a layer of Mod Podge to the front of the light switch plate using a foam or paint brush
Step 4: Quickly apply a layer of Mod Podge onto the back of the scrapbook paper
Step 5: Press paper onto switch plate, folding any excess over the edges of the plate
Step 6: Turn switch plate face down and use the X-Acto knife to cut out the center
Step 7: Apply a layer of Mod Podge around the entire switch plate, this will seal the edges and create a crisp look
Step 8: Once the glue dries install switch plate onto the wall
The next two steps are only if you want to cover the screw with scrapbook paper
Step 9: Hole punch a piece of scrapbook paper (this will create the piece that will cover the screw)
Step 10: Apply Mod Podge to Screw and position paper so it completely covers the screw and you’re done!!

I really enjoyed actually watching you re-cover you switch plate. You make everything look so simple, but I think I’ll give it a try. I also like your new fall look so far and can’t wait to see how you lay it out in your beautiful living area. You are a very creative young lady. I enjoy your blog very much.
Looking forward to your next project.

This was super easy! I used a gift sack that I had laying around. Just make sure that it doesn’t have a glossy finish to it. I found it at TJ Max. I also used Elmers glue
