Two weeks ago yesterday, on August 12th at 3:48pm Riley Ann Barringer made her way into the world. She weighed 8lbs 10oz
was 20.5″ long and had a head full of black hair. I am having a hard time accepting the fact that Baby Riley is already 15 days old, I just don’t know where the time has gone!!
I will say that the past two weeks have been the toughest and most trying two weeks of my life going from having never changed a diaper to having this little human to take care of 24/7 has been quite the adjustment. Not to mention my poor baby has a mild case of colic which has made things that much more challenging and while I’m not going to lie and say I’ve enjoyed living on little to no sleep, worrying myself sick over every little thing and feeling helpless when Riley is in pain and nothing I do eases the pain, but as as I sit here starring at my sweet baby sleeping beside me I can honestly say that the past two weeks have been the best two weeks of my life. Riley is truly a miracle from God and I am over joyed with all the love and happiness she has brought into my life. I wouldn’t trade all of the time I’ve spent getting to know my sweet baby for anything in the world; however I do wish the gas and stomach pains would go away, it breaks my heart seeing her cringe up in pain, so if anyone has any good tips please feel free to share 🙂
With all that has happened over the past two weeks I haven’t had the chance to really introduce Baby Riley, so I thought it would be a good time to share some of the photos from our stay at the hospital, as well as, some photos of Miss Riley at 4 days and 12 days!
I hope you enjoy!!
Here are some photos from the hospital that my husband, Jairus, and I took. As you can see Riley had quite a trip through the birth canal causing her to endure quite a bit of swelling in her face. She also has a busted blood vessel in her left eye, which you can’t see in the pictures, but unfortunately it’s still there 14 days later. They say it will go away, I just pray they are right!!

Beautiful! And the sleepless nights and colic will pass. But I read with fun each step of your pregnancy and enjoyed it right along with you. Imhave a daughter you age who is a planner. She is getting her body ready to get pregnant. But today’s young woman have fun and document everything and have beautiful idea’s. That little blessing with the full head of hair is worth those sleepless nights. When she naps, you nap. Treat yourself kindly and gently. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your pregnancy!
Hi Sherrie, first of all, thank you sooo much!! I’m so thrilled to hear you follow my blog and have followed my pregnancy, I still can’t believe it’s over and baby Riley is here with us, I have enjoyed all the time with her and am so thankful for everything we have been blessed with, I just hate seeing her in pain and it makes it hard for me as a new mother to accept that nothing I do will take the pain away. 🙁 On another note, that’s so exciting about your daughter, I will say, I was not prepared for everything I was in for, but I have always had a fear of “labor” which is one of the reasons I waited so long to have a baby, so in my mind the less I knew the better, but the doctor told me, ignorance isn’t bliss when it comes to labor, and as much as I didn’t want to listen to him, he was right. Women who go into pregnancy prepared for what they are going to endure are so much more prepared, so I think it’s so great that she’s planning for it! I wish her the best of luck and please if I can ever help answer any questions (I know everyone’s experience is different) but i’d be more than happy to try and give any insight I have through my experience! Thank you again for the very sweet comment, it made my day 🙂 ~Jessica
Beautiful pictures! thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Virginia!! I really appreciate it 🙂 ~Jessica
Hi Jessica!
I was so happy and surprised tonight when I opened my emails and saw one that said “My Love of Style!” I had a feeling it might be the big news we’ve all been anxiously awaiting, and I was right! My dear, you are so, so blessed!!! Riley is about the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen! (Well, maybe my daughter and granddaughters were up there, too…LOL)! No, but honestly, she is a very beautiful little girl, and I am so happy that I know she has the best mommy is the whole world to help her through the pains of growing up!!! Her colic is frustrating for you, I know, but remember that many, many babies go through it and by the Grace of God, come out just fine at the end!!! All of your “mommy” instincts will be perfect, believe me, and Riley will flourish during this difficult time. She feels your love, Jessica, and that alone will get her through! The pictures are just adorable, and I can’t even pick a favorite because they are ALL so sweet! Riley is such a darling newborn…really…not all newborns are very cute, but you are definitely blessed!!! Her hair is amazing!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a newborn with so much raven black hair…it’s gorgeous (but please be aware that she MIGHT lose some of it down the road). I hope your labor wasn’t too long or too painful…but ya know, you’ll forget all about it because that’s what babies do…they make us forget because we love them so much. Well, I’m babbling on, so I guess I’ll close for now. Your pregnancy has been a fun and memorable time…for you AND for your followers!!! I’ve loved every minute and just hope you don’t get too busy to post the MANY pictures you will be taking of your beautiful, sweet Riley! Congratulations to you and your husband, and God bless you! You’re amazing!!!
Fondly,
Debbie Loftus
Jessica, she is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations and look forward to seeing you when you get back to work.
Thanks Athena, I’m planning to bring her by to see you ladies when I take her up to the office!! Can’t wait for y’all to meet her!
Hi Jessica! Don’t know if you remember me but we’ve had a few chats in the ladies’ room at the office. Riley is so beautiful and looks like her mom, which is only fair! I had colicky babies and the best thing is warmth, the feel of your body against hers and gentle rocking. With time, it will improve. She won’t go to kindergarten with colic! haha If you come up to the office with Riley, be sure to bring her down the hall to see us!
Take care,
Sherry
Hi Sherry, of course I remember you, duh!! 🙂 Thank you so much and thank you for the advice, it’s been a struggle but we are managing 🙂 I plan to bring Riley up to the office either next week or the next and I will definitely bring her by so she can meet all the ladies!!! See you soon!
Love your photos there great.
