Budget Shabby Chic Foyer Makeover

As most of you know after finishing my Living Room Makeover I immediately started working on remodeling my foyer. My foyer was originally dark and closed in so I wanted to brighten up the space by giving it a Shabby Chic Makeover. I actually finished my Shabby Chic Foyer Makeover last October and have been meaning to share it for a year now, but I got distracted with new projects, especially after finding out I was pregnant, so I know my Shabby Chic Foyer Reveal is way overdue, but I figure it’s better late than never, right?!  My Foyer Makeover took about 2 months to complete just because I had to work on it at night and on the weekends, but all in all it was fairly easy and due to all of the DIY Home Renovation and DIY Decorating Projects that I took on the total cost was less than $700.00.  At the bottom you will see the cost breakdown for my Budget Shabby Chic Foyer Makeover.

Last year I shared some of the before and in-progress photos of my foyer, but I’ve put a few more before photos up so you can see the transformation all at once.

NOW HERE ARE THE AFTER PHOTOS!!!

I’m going to show you how our foyer looks in both natural and artificial lighting. The first set of pictures were taken during the day using natural light

After Photo – Up-close view of mirror and floating shelf. To give our old mirror a shabby chic look I used fine sand paper and gently sanded around the frame. Above the mirror I placed an ornate shelf from TJ Maxx that I painted white and distressed. The shelf not only added character but it also allowed me to add decor to hide the gaudy door bell box (you can see it in one of the before pictures)

After Photo – I love this Shabby Chic Crystal chandelier in Antique White! It was it’s the perfect size for our small foyer and looked great with all of the Shabby Chic decor.

After Photo – This is the view looking from our living room into the foyer. It was virtually impossible for me to get a good picture from this angle, but hopefully you can tell how the paint, wainscoting and wide crown moulding opened up the space.

After Photo – I purchased coat rack from Marshalls for $19.99 and then sponge painted it to give it a distressed look. Checkout my Shabby Chic Metal Coat Rack post to see how I did it. I also purchased the Key Wall Plaque from Marshalls. The Key Wall Plaque was originally a natural wood color, but I painted it white and distressed it so it would match the foyer table and chandelier.

After Photo – View from the dining room looking into the office. I wanted the wall on both side of the entrance into the office to have a symmetrical look. I was originally going to use sconce shelves; however it looked bare and crowded at the same time, so I decided to go with a matching set of prints.

After Photo – I purchased the rug from Overstock. The colors looked different online than in person so it’s not what I originally wanted but I thought it looked okay, so I decided to keep it.
