As most of you know after finishing my Living Room Makeover I immediately started working on
remodeling my foyer. My foyer was originally dark and closed in so I wanted to brighten up the space by giving it a Shabby Chic Makeover. I actually finished my Shabby Chic Foyer Makeover last October and have been meaning to share it for a year now, but I got distracted with new projects, especially after finding out I was pregnant, so I know my Shabby Chic Foyer Reveal is way overdue, but I figure it’s better late than never, right?! My Foyer Makeover took about 2 months to complete just because I had to work on it at night and on the weekends, but all in all it was fairly easy and due to all of the DIY Home Renovation and DIY Decorating Projects that I took on the total cost was less than $700.00. At the bottom you will see the cost breakdown for my Budget Shabby Chic Foyer Makeover.
Last year I shared some of the before and in-progress photos of my foyer, but I’ve put a few more before photos up so you can see the transformation all at once.
Here goes, I hope you like it!!
FOYER MAKEOVER BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS
Before Photo – View from Dinning Room looking into the Foyer
Before Photo – View from the Living Room looking into the Foyer
Before Photo – View from the Office looking into the corner of the stairway. As you can see the paint is AWFUL and don’t get me started on the gaudy door bell box!!!

NOW HERE ARE THE AFTER PHOTOS!!!
I’m going to show you how our foyer looks in both natural and artificial lighting. The first set of pictures were taken during the day using natural light
After Photo – View from the office looking into the foyer towards the stairway
After Photo – This is a closer view from our office looking up the stairway
After Photo – Up-close view of mirror and floating shelf. To give our old mirror a shabby chic look I used fine sand paper and gently sanded around the frame. Above the mirror I placed an ornate shelf from TJ Maxx that I painted white and distressed. The shelf not only added character but it also allowed me to add decor to hide the gaudy door bell box (you can see it in one of the before pictures)
After Photo – I love this Shabby Chic Crystal chandelier in Antique White! It was it’s the perfect size for our small foyer and looked great with all of the Shabby Chic decor.
After Photo – This is the view looking from our living room into the foyer. It was virtually impossible for me to get a good picture from this angle, but hopefully you can tell how the paint, wainscoting and wide crown moulding opened up the space.
After Photo – I purchased coat rack from Marshalls for $19.99 and then sponge painted it to give it a distressed look. Checkout my Shabby Chic Metal Coat Rack post to see how I did it. I also purchased the Key Wall Plaque from Marshalls. The Key Wall Plaque was originally a natural wood color, but I painted it white and distressed it so it would match the foyer table and chandelier.
After Photo – I used the table I previously had in the foyer; however in order to give it a Shabby Chic look I painted it white and distressed it. Checkout my Distressed Foyer Table post to see how to see my tutorial.
Here are the pictures of my Foyer Makeover using artificial lighting
After Photo – This is from the office looking into the dining room
After Photo – View from the dining room looking into the office. I wanted the wall on both side of the entrance into the office to have a symmetrical look. I was originally going to use sconce shelves; however it looked bare and crowded at the same time, so I decided to go with a matching set of prints.
After Photo – View from the edge of the dining room into the foyer
After Photo – I purchased the rug from Overstock. The colors looked different online than in person so it’s not what I originally wanted but I thought it looked okay, so I decided to keep it.
After Photo – View of the foyer with a mix of both artificial and natural light

Happy holidays to you and your family, Jessica! The foyer looks really beautiful…very bright and tidy. It’s a very good impression for people to see before entering the rest of your home. It shows your style and your attention to detail. Very impressive. It’s amazing you don’t do interior designing as a business…you should think about it because you’re very talented in that area.
Thank you for your inspiration and your interesting blogs. I am a faithful fan and I appreciate your talent!
Have a great holiday and happy new year!
Hi Debbie, it’s great to hear from you!! Thank you so much for the compliments, You are so kind and I’m soo glad that you find my posts inspiring!! That means a lot!!!! I would LOVE to do this for a living, maybe one day 🙂 I hope that you and your family had an AMAZING holiday and that you have a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Thanks again for all of your very sweet comments and for following my blog, it’s always great to hear from you!! Xo ~Jessica
I curious as to what paint color/brand you used?
Hi Gigi, I used Valspar semigloss. I don’t have the name of the color but I have the paint code that they used to mix it, if you told them this series of letters and numbers they can use that to mix it (not sure this helps you but in case it does the paint code is P117423). ~Jessica
Thank you! I’m shopping around for a soft color, I’ll have to try a sample of this, thank you for the paint code, I hope it works!
YOu are very welcome!!! Let me know if it doesn’t work for some reason, there was another number on the barcode on top of the paint can, but I think the one I sent was the correct one 🙂
Very nice makeover! I really like the molding!!
I love your foyer. Im curious about the crown molding. How difficult was it to put up? Are you able to tell us how you did it step by step? thanks! im interested to do something like this for our dining room.
This is absolutely fabulous. We really love your Blog! We will definately get that Bird Cage by the way. Love that shabby Vintage style. Greetings from the twins!
