Burlap Table Number Flags are one of my favorite ways to showcase table numbers at a wedding reception. All you have to do is
stick the flag into your centerpiece and viola you have a functional and creative addition to your decor. Of course you want to make sure that you display your table numbers in a way that compliments your color scheme and/or theme. Otherwise it will stick out like a sore thumb, so if you’re having a formal indoor wedding reception with crystals and large hydrangea pomander centerpieces you probably wouldn’t want to use Burlap Table Number Flags. Now if you’re having a Rustic Inspired Burlap and Lace wedding reception these DIY Table Number Flags will compliment your decor perfectly!
Okay, lets get started!
Here is what you will need:
- Burlap
- Fray Check
- Flag Template
- Number Template
- Paint
- Paint Brush
- Dowel or Skewer
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1: Print and cut out a flag template and Number templates on card stock paper. I created a flag template and a set of Numbers just for you 🙂 When cutting the Numbers make sure that you cut from the inside, as you are going to use the outline of the Number instead of the Number itself.

Step 2: Iron your burlap and then fold it over so that you have two pieces overlapping.
Step 3: Trace around your flag template
Step 4: Use paperclips, clothes pins or whatever you can find to hold your two pieces of burlap together
Step 5: Cut out your flags and apply fray check around the edges
Step 6: Tape your burlap on a piece of cardboard or something that you are okay with getting paint on. I used an old piece of foam board. Then tape your Number template onto your burlap
Step 7: Dab a little paint onto your paint brush and then begin dabbing it within the Number Template.
When you finish you should be able to remove the template and have a perfectly painted Number on your Flag
Step 8: Once your paint has dried you will be ready to put your flag together. Place the two flags on top of each other with the Number facing up.
Step 9: Fold the left hand side pf the top piece over about one inch.
Step 10: Then add a line of hot glue right at the fold line. This is to attach the top and bottom pieces together.
Step 11: Continue gluing the top and bottom pieces together around the edges (except the edge to the left of the fold) as this is where you’re going to glue your dowel rod.
Step 12: Place your dowel rod on top of the bottom flag and glue the bottom flag around the dowel rod
Step 13: Now glue the piece that you folded around the dowel rod
Repeat this step until you have the amount of table numbers needed
Until Next Time….
