I know that Christmas is tomorrow…yikes….so to say that I’m late sharing this DIY Frosted Winter Swag tutorial is an understatement, but
this is something you can use throughout the winter season, so it’s not just a Christmas swag, it’s also a winter swag. Plus, it’s better late than never…right?!?
I looked at purchasing a Swag that was dressed with ribbon, pinecones, berries and frost and I was AMAZED at how much those things cost, even with the 50% discount that you can get at Hobby Lobby. I decided to try making my own; I mean how hard could it be?? When everything was said and done I spent a total of $12 and it was exactly what I wanted!
Okay, here is what you need:
- Garland Swag (I purchased mine from Michaels)
- Christmas Picks I used two full frosted garland picks with berries and pinecones and 1 small pick with a pinecone and berries
- Ribbon (I used burlap)
- Floral wire
- Wire Cutters
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1: Seperate the limbs on your Garland Swag
Step 2: Take your Burlap Ribbon (or Ribbon of choice) and tie it to the swag using your floral wire. You do this by wrapping your floral wire around the burlap and then around piece of greenery. This will keep the ribbon in place.
Step 3: Go about 4-5 inches and then tie the ribbon to another piece of the swag using your floral ribbon.
Do this until you get to the end of the swag.
Step 4: I cut the pinecones off of the two large Christmas Picks using my wire cutters. I also clipped a few pieces of the frosted greenery (I wanted to place them throughout the entire swag).
Step 5: Next I placed one large Christmas Pick on the right side and the other on the left side and glued them in place
Step 6: Then I glued the small Christmas Pick into the center of the swag
Step 7: Glue the pieces of frosted greenery, as well as the pinecones throughout the swag
and viola…..you have a beautiful winter swag that is decorated just the way you want
I also made several garlands as well, you can see one of the ones I made in the picture above.
Until Next Time…..
Happy Holidays!!!
