After sharing 10 Fabulous DIY Heart Shirt Tutorials a few weeks ago I promised to share my Heart shirt tutorial, so I
hope you don’t mind me adding one more heart shirt tutorial to the list. I decided to go with a lace heart, I mean I can’t think of a better way to give a plain t-shirt a little love than with a beautiful red lace heart. 🙂 I made this Lace Heart Shirt for my fun-loving little Roo, but this is a great DIY fashion project for ladies of all ages. For the mommies out there, this DIY Lace Heart Shirt is a great mommy & me matching outfit project that you and your little girl can make together and wear together!
Are you ready to show off your playful girlie side with your own DIY Lace Heart Shirt???
Alright, let’s get started
Here is what you will need:
- Shirt
- Heart Template
- Heat N Bond
- Scissors
- Iron
- Offray Lacey Ribbon – Thank you Offray for providing the Lace Ribbon!
Step 1: Place your heart template on a flat surface and cut a piece of lace that is slightly wider your heart template.
If one piece of lace doesn’t cover the entire length of your heart then you should cut enough pieces of lace so that when you place the edges of each piece together your entire heart is covered.
Step 2: Cut a piece of Heat N Bond slightly wider and longer than your lace
Step 3: Lay the lace on a flat surface wrong side up. Then place your piece of Heat N Bond paper side up on the wrong side of the lace
If you’re using multiple strips be sure that your edges line up so your lace looks seamless
Step 4: Place and hold iron on paper side of adhesive for 2 seconds. Repeat by gliding iron to new area and pressing, slightly overlapping previous area until entire surface is bonded
Step 5: After it’s cooled trace your heart template onto the paper side of the Heat N Bond
Step 6: Cut out your lace heart
Step 7: Peel off the paper backing
Step 8: Place Lace Heart, adhesive side down, in the center of your shirt. Then Press and hold iron for 8-10 seconds on each section until entire piece is bonded.
**Since the material is lace some of the adhesive may stick to the iron. If that does happen you can remove the adhesive by ironing a scrap piece of fabric (while the iron is hot); this will cause the adhesive to come off onto the scrap fabric.
How easy was that? In 30 minutes (or less) you have a Beautiful DIY Lace Heart Shirt
What do you think about Riley’s DIY Lace Heart Shirt? I’m pretty sure Riley liked it, she kept pointing to the heart saying “Heart” in her cute little baby voice. I’m going to call this a DIY Fashion Success…not only because it looked adorable on my little Roo but because she was so proud of herself for being able to tell ma-ma she had a heart on her shirt!! <3
I want to thank Offray for the sponsored collaboration
Until Next Time….
